Ilham Aliyev, the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Giorgi Margvelashvili, the president of Georgia visited the “Tea house” teaching center in the region of Marneuli, Georgia.

Presidents met with members of Azerbaijani community in Georgia after visting “Tea house” teaching center, AzVision.az reports.

State leaders delivered a speech at the meeting. G.Margvelashvili said:

“I welcome you and members of Marneuli community. Today, I am glad to meet with Mr. Aliyev and Azerbaijani citizens of Georgia. This community is an essential part of our state as well as citizens. I am grateful to the residents of this region and Azerbaijanis living in Georgia for the contribution to the progress of the country and expansion of our relations.
Yesterday we discussed the further development of our friendship ties with Mr.Aliyev. Azerbaijan-Georgia ties can be taken as an example. This example will strengthen our countries.

We recalled former presidents Haydar Aliyev and Eduard Shevardnadze who farsightedly valued this friendship ties. They defined the strategic direction of our relations. Today we are sure that the foundation laid by them 20-25 years ago determines our future.

I am so pleased to meet you. Obviously, Aliyev gained sympathy of Georgian people. I know you have sympathy to the president, too. I am delighted for the development of the region. These innovations root from your efforts and the support of Azerbaijan to the region and economy“.

This support is significant in everywhere. Additionally, partnership with Azerbaijan plays a very important role in the development of the economy of Georgia. Furthermore, this support plays a significant role in the realization of social projects. Besides, all kindergartens are equipped with heating sytsem. In addition to kindergartens, many of churches and other institutions are provided with heating systems. Moreover, great number of cultural, sports and scientific projects are supported by Azerbaijan. It is impossible to deny the help of Azerbaijan to Georgia. I can say that all these projects contribute to the development of the country”.

Georgian counterpart noted, citizens are prone to economic, political and cultural integration:

“We have educated and talented people. Their close participation in political processes symbolizes the power of Georgia. Our nation and country are eager to implement developmental projects. Mr.Aliyev’s backs the implementation of these projects. He is very kind-hearted person and warmly welcomed me during my visit to Azerbaijan. I try to show our hospitality to Mr.Aliyev during his visit to Tbilisi.

Parliamentary elections have recently been held in Azerbaijan. After elections, Mr. Aliyev visited Georgia. This is a free gesture. I am thankful for his gesture. The world witnesses his gesture and understands the necessity of Azerbaijan-Georgia ties. I am again very pleased for our meeting. We are always ready to serve you”.

The president of Georgia touched on the implementation of the Georgian langauge project and stated, this factor mainly focuses on Azerbaijanis active position taking in socio-cultural, socio-economic and cultural areas in the country.

Speaking on the implemented projects, the president said, Georgia is powerful together with Azerbaijani citizens preserving their culture and traditions.

“There are a number of successfully implemented infrastructure projects, mainly in the sphere of agriculture. Georgia has a vast agricultural potential. Nevertheless, our local food production only meets 9% of our needs. This is a small indicator. Obviously, Azerbaijani citizens play a key role in this 9%. These projects need to be implemented in accordance with Europan market. Last year, we signed a contract with the EU on “Free trade”. This contract created a great deal of opportunites. Certainly, our products must meet the EU standards and allow us to compete with other countries. We have a potential but we need a modern technology to realize this project.


I am very grateful to Mr. Aliyev for his support in the field of modern greenhouses. Additionally, the president supports turism and related services in Georgia. In this regard, executive authorities and other institutions in the region must study the potential in this field and submit their suggestions joining their efforts.Turism is a cost-effective field. Moreover, very important geopolitcal and geostrategic projects will be implemented. We had discussion with the president on this issue. These projects will give us an opprtunity to increase the transit of freights and energy suppliers and establishment of logistics centers.

I thank for the prosperity in the above mentioned fields. I believe in the futher development of the cooperation between our countries. I am very proud to welcome you in Marneuli”.
