No earthquake stronger than magnitude 4 expected in Azerbaijan
According to the analysis of the seismological and geodynamic conditions dominant in the country in late October, the Shaki-Oghuz and Central Caspian seismogenic zones and partially the southeast section of the Shamakhi active seismic zone are assessed as areas with high seismic risk, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources told.
The ministry noted that local earthquakes are highly likely to occur in the three zones and that such seismic events are unlikely to be stronger than magnitude 4 as the current levels of geodynamic tension are not critical.
