21 People Killed in Coal Mine Fire in Northeast China
Twenty one people were killed in a coal mine fire in China
One person is missing, the state-run Xinhua news agency said.

Earlier, the agency reported that 22 workers were trapped in a coal mine in Jixi City. The mine is operated by state-owned Heilongjiang Longmay Mining Holding Group.

It was reported that 38 people were working at the shaft`s bottom when the fire broke out on Friday night. Sixteen men managed to escape.

In July, rescuers saved six men from a flooded coal mine in Heilongjiang Province.

China is the second coal producer in the world.
