March of the “No” front struggling against constitutional amendments in Armenia has kicked off from Yerevan’s Liberty Square, AzVision.az reports citing Armenian media.
The participants will walk along the Mashtots Avenue to Amiryan street, following which they will head from Nalbandyan street to Tumanyan street, ending the march in Liberty Square.
At night participants moved along Mashtots Avenue, which is closed on one side. The police have formed a wall in the middle of the Avenue. Yerevan Deputy Chief of Police Valeri Osipyan was also present there.
The referendum on Armenia’s draft constitutional amendments is slated for December 6. Pursuant to the new draft Constitution, the country will make a transition from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system of governance, and conduct completely proportional parliamentary elections. The referendum campaign has kicked off since October 10.
