Azerbaijani community condemns Paris mayor`s cooperation with Hayastan fund
The Azerbaijanis living in France have issued a special statement as a protest to Paris Mayor Ms. Anne Hidalgo’s cooperation with Hayastan All-Armenian Fund.

The statement reads: “As the Azerbaijanis living in France, we condemn Paris Mayor Ms. Anne Hidalgo’s cooperation with Hayastan All-Armenian Fund. This fund’s being supported by some French politicians is not understandable. This fund is providing support for many projects in the Azerbaijani territories occupied by Armenia.

We want to recall that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict began in 1988 and as a result of this conflict, Armenian armed forces occupied 20% of Azerbaijan`s territories, including Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven adjacent districts, residents of which were completely the Azerbaijanis till 1990. About 1 million Azerbaijanis were expelled from their native lands, more than 20 000 were killed and 50 000 became disabled. Fate of more than 4000 Azerbaijanis facing rape and torture in the captivity of Armenia still remains unknown.

We’d like to draw attention of Ms. Anne Hidalgo to what these obtained funds will be used for: what is the nature of these projects? Can we be sure of the transparency of this fund’s activities?

It is known that the French government recognizes the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and it is one of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries. One of the obligations of France is to find a fair and lasting solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, respecting the UN Security Council resolutions. Furthermore, we consider that such paradoxical initiatives can undermine the friendly relations between France and Azerbaijan.
