Novruz Mammadov, deputy head of Azerbaijani presidential administration, chief of the administration’s foreign relations department has commented the situation on his Twitter account: “Azerbaijan regrets that the relations between Turkey and Russia have so aggravated. Turkey is our close ally. Russia is also a close and friendly country for us. Azerbaijan is bound to both countries by historical tie. We want very much that there is no confrontation between our friends. Azerbaijan stands ready to make its contribution to reducing tension.”
Deputy Prime Minister, Secretary General of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party Ali Ahmadov has also commented the strained relations between Turkey and Russia.
Stressing Turkey as a strategic ally and brother for us, Ali Ahmedov told: “Russia is also neighbor country of Azerbaijan. There are close comprehensive relations between the countries. Azerbaijan is bound to both countries by historical tie. It is undesirable to deepen the tensions and we are in favor of the elimination of tension between the countries. Azerbaijan stands ready to make its contribution to reducing tension”
