World Powers Vow to Spend Some $20Bln on Clean Energy Research
At least 19 states have pledged to spend some $20 billion in green energy research over the next five years, British media reported Monday.
The United States, China, Canada, the United Kingdom and India, among other states, could spend about $20 billion to research environment-friendly energy technologies, The Guardian reported.

Prominent world business leaders, including Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates and the chairman of the Chinese Alibaba e-commerce group are expected to launch similar initiatives on Monday.

The initiatives come in light of the ongoing November 30 to December 11 21st UN Climate Change Conference in Paris. The conference aims to reach a legally binding agreement on climate change that would replace the 1997 Kyoto Protocol.
