One soldier martyred in SE Turkey
Turkish army says PKK detonated explosive
A soldier was martyred and five others injured in Turkey’s southeastern province of Mardin, the Turkish military said on Wednesday.

Suspected members of PKK terrorist organization detonated an improvised explosive device at 5.20 p.m. (1520GMT), the army said in a statement.

According to an Anadolu Agency reporter in Mardin, the explosive was placed in a trashcan on the route of an army shuttle.

The PKK - considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU - resumed its armed campaign in late July.

Since July, more than 180 members of the security forces have been martyred and over 1,700 PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq, including airstrikes.
