Members of the Public Union “Azerbaijani community of Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh region”, MPs and public figures on Monday visited the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate the 24th anniversary of occupation of Khankendi district.
The visitors laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame complex and prayed for souls of the martyrs.
MP from Khankendi Flora Gasimova said that as a result of the occupation of Khankendi, Nagorno-Karabakh region was subjected to ethnic cleansing. Upon the occupation of the last settlement – Karkijahan, more than 10,000 Azerbaijanis were displaced from Khankendi and about 100 Khankendi residents were killed.
Gasimova, referring to the inactivity of the OSCE Minsk Group, said that Azerbaijan should rely only on itself for liberation of its occupied territories.
