Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on Dec.28 pardoning 210 people, MP Azay Guliyev, a member of the Pardon Commission under the president, announced on his Facebook page.
“Mr President signed the long anticipated decree pardoning 210 people. I thank President Ilham Aliyev for making such a humane decision and I congratulate the pardoned,” said Azay Guliyev.
198 people were freed from the unserved part of their imprisonment, 3 from correctional labor and 9 from the pecuniary penalty.
The pardon decree also applied to some foreigners.
