Netherlands assumes EU Presidency

Netherlands assumes EU Presidency

Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel has passed the presidency of the European Union on to his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte.

The Dutch presidency will officially begin on January 1.

The EU states preside at the European Council on a six-month rotational basis.
