57 Nardaran detainees released
As many as 57 persons who were administratively arrested after the events in Nardaran township of Baku have been released, Nardaran resident Natig Karimov told, AzVision.az reports.
He said a total of 71 persons were sentenced to 24-hour arrest.

“14 persons are being held under administrative detention. Some of them are expected to be released tomorrow as the period of their detention period expired”, he added.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan (MIA) carried out in a special operation in the township of Nardaran, Baku on Dec.26.

According to the statement issued jointly by the MIA and Prosecutor General’s Office, the MIA was informed about the armed criminal gang, operating under the guise of religion and planning to break the social and political stability, commit diversions, mass clashes, terrorist attacks in the country.

During the operation, the members of the criminal gang opened fire from an automatic weapon, put up armed resistance to the police officers and threw a hand grenade.

Members of the gang – Abbas Huseyn (Ganja resident), Sarvan Safarov (Masalli resident), Akbar Babayev, Farahim Bunyatov and Rafael Bunyatov were killed in the operation.
