He said Moscow will finalize large armament supplies to Baku under the agreements of 2010 in 2017, but further tank supplies are not on the agenda yet.
“In 2010, we signed a big package which included several positions. The terms were different, and we have made several shipments this year. Something is finalized, and something is due in 2015”, he stressed.
Note that, deputy head of the federal service on the military and technical cooperation said that Russia had finalized supplying to Azerbaijan 100 tanks of T-90C class in April. He confirmed a second similar shipment was possible.
Topoyev also noted that the Azerbaijani side has made a request to Rosoboreneksport to create centers in the country for repairs of helicopters and heavy armed vehicles.
He said the issue is currently at the level of the customer’s offer and request, adding that some offers will be prepared on the creation of new service centers by Russia: “We’re working in this direction which includes preparing personnel for different purposes. We’re not talking about only technical personnel”.
He added that the plan is to prepare specialists for helicopters and heavy equipment--either exploiters or specialists for technical service and repairs.
He also noted that Rosoboroneksport has offered the Azerbaijani side to modernize T-72 tanks, in other words, to bring T-72 tanks up to the level of the BMPT tank support combat vehicle.
