Since 1996, there is a legal framework for the signing of an agreement on cooperation and partnership between the EU and Azerbaijan, said Mard.
“The EU and Azerbaijan are well aware that today their relations are quite different from those in the 90s,” she noted.
The EU is a good trade partner for Azerbaijan and also a major investor in the country, Mard said, noting that the EU and Azerbaijan enjoy cooperation in various areas, including tourism and agriculture.
Earlier, the EU and Azerbaijan signed agreements on visa facilitation and readmission, and now both sides are keen to explore the possibility of creating a new legal framework for the new agreement, she added.
