Amendments to the Law “On physical education and sports” were discussed at the meeting headed by committee chairman Fuad Muradov.
According to the amendment to article #53-1.5 of the law, from now on the control over gambling will be carried out by the newly-established Financial Market Control Chamber of Azerbaijan but not by the executive body of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
According to the annexation #53-1.7, the Financial Market Control Chamber, responsible for supervising and controlling gambling games, is financed revenues from gambling.
MP Adil Aliyev said it would be more effective not to deprive the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the right to control gambling.
MPs Shahin Ismayilov and Nagif Hamzayev said that the amendments should be transparent. Hamzayev proposed control chamber’s annual reporting to the parliament.
The document was recommended to the parliament’s plenary session scheduled for March 4.
