Iranian parliament speaker to create new party
Iran`s Parliament speaker Ali Larijani will create a new political party, Iran’s ISNA news agency quoted the spokesman of the country’s parliament presidium Behrouz Nemati as saying on Nov.20.

Nemati said Iranian people will support the speaker in creating a new party which he plans to name as Rahrovan-e Vilayet (Followers of Guardianship).

“Larijani will create a party to have his say in politics,” he said, adding that the preliminary work on establishing the party is underway.

Iranian media reported that currently, only 68 percent of over 2,500 political organizations registered in the country are operating.

Currently, reformers (47 parties), conservatives (35 parties) and moderates (25 parties) are competing for political power in Iran.

Around 10-15 parties from all three groups operate actively.
