"As long as asylum seekers without proper identification documents cannot travel to Sweden, there is still a serious risk that many refugees and migrants are stranded in this country. Therefore it is necessary to prolong border control so that we ensure that large groups of refugees and migrants do not accumulate here in Denmark," the press release quoted Immigration, Integration and Housing Minister Inger Stojberg as saying.
According to the statement, the border control has been extended until May 3.
The Danish government introduced temporary border controls on January 4 as a measure to curb refugee influx. Since then, the security measure has been extended four times.
