TAP appoints new Italy Country Manager
The TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) consortium appointed Michele Mario Elia as its new Italy Country Manager, the consortium reported on April 1.
This position since June 2015 was held by Clara Risso who will continue to provide her valuable support to the project.

Michele is a Senior Executive with many years of experience working in the Italian infrastructure sector, having built a career of over 40 years at the Italian State Railways Company, Ferrovie dello Stato (FS).

Most recently Michele held the position of CEO for FS from 2014 – 2015 and from 2006 – 2014, as CEO for Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (the infrastructure managing company for FS).

TAP project envisages transportation of gas from the Stage 2 of development of Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz gas and condensate field to the EU countries.

The 870-kilometer pipeline will be connected to the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) on the Turkish-Greek border, run through Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea, before coming ashore in Italy’s south.

TAP’s initial capacity will be 10 billion cubic meters of gas a year, expandable to 20 billion cubic meters. The pipeline’s construction is planned to start in mid-2016.
