James Warlick: We urge parties to refocus efforts on negotiating peaceful and lasting settlement
"Further violence and retaliation will undermine peace talks"

We have seen the reports about the operation to recover the bodies of the crew members killed in the November 12 downing of a military helicopter along the Line of Contact, U.S. co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick told.

“The November 12 incident was a tragedy that must be avoided in the future. We urge the parties to show restraint and refocus their efforts on negotiating a peaceful and lasting settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Further violence and retaliation will undermine peace talks and impede the resolution of humanitarian issues that arise as a result of the conflict”, said the diplomat.

On November 21, Warlick posted on his Twitter page that military escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh does not help efforts to recover the remains of the helicopter crew and he urged dialogue and diplomacy. However, on November 22, the Armenian press reported about holding of a special operation on the line of contact, killing of two Azerbaijani soldiers and removal of the bodies from the site. Azerbaijan`s Defense Ministry denied these reports and stated that such reports aim to calm down the Armenian public.
