Azerbaijani president, Russian PM meet in expanded format
Following the one-on-one meeting, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev began a meeting in an expanded format with the participation of the two countries
President Aliyev thanked the Russian side for efforts towards reducing the escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The head of state said that economic and trade ties between the two countries were thoroughly discussed during the one-on-one meeting.

There is a good momentum in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, the president said, noting that the volume of trade turnover between the two countries decreased slightly for objective reasons.

President Aliyev stressed that there are great opportunities for the development of bilateral relations in the field of transport and energy.

In turn, Russian PM Medvedev said that he discussed the regional issues with the Azerbaijani president during the one-on-one meeting.

Russia and Azerbaijan enjoy a strategic partnership, the PM said, noting the importance of further developing economic ties between the two countries.

“The volume of bilateral trade turnover reduced slightly in 2015 due to the prices of products that the countries export,” he noted.

Medvedev added that humanitarian issues will be discussed during the expanded meeting.
