"It requires all of us - Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan - to cooperate on building the infrastructure, on easing our customs and tariff values, so that we can encourage greater trade," he said.
"We are ready for that and I believe the meeting of the three countries` foreign ministers was a good first step," he said. "It would be followed by a summit and probably by meetings in the sectorial field."
The North-South international transportation corridor is meant to connect the northern Europe with the south-eastern Asia. It will serve as a link between the railways of Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia.
At an initial stage, it is planned to transport 6 million tons of cargo via the North-South corridor a year, and 15 to 20 million tons of cargo in the future.
