Azerbaijan to fully introduce single card payment system in public transport
A single card payment system in public transport in Azerbaijan will be fully introduced on March 1, 2015, Deputy Minister of Transport Musa Panahov told journalists, APA-Economics reports.
There’s still much work Azerbaijan has to do for the application of a single card payment system in public transport. The relevant works continue. Transition into this system will be fully completed by the European Games to be held in Baku next year, more precisely beginning on March 1,” said the deputy minister.

According to him, the cards will not only be used on buses, but also subway.

“In future, single cards will be used for all means of transportation. We would like bank cards too to be used in this payment system,” M. Panahov added.

The deputy minister also noted that the full application of this common card system will not lead to higher prices: “Discussions on price increase continue. There are a number of proposals. But for now this issue is not on the agenda”.
