ICRC clarifies allegations of so-called "Nagorno Karabakh Republic
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has commented on the allegations of the Commission on prisoners of war and hostages of the so-called "Nagorno Karabakh Republic".
“Should the ICRC come across allegations of wrongdoing, including violations of international humanitarian law, we seek to document and share any concerns to the party concerned on a strictly bilateral and confidential basis”, Head of Communication Department of the ICRC Baku Office Ilaha Huseynova told APA.

“This discussion is a part of the ICRC’s regular dialogue with sides of a conflict. It is also part of an approach that is well-established and respected”, she stressed.

Note that, according to the Commission on prisoners of war and hostages of the so-called “Nagorno Karabakh Republic”, the dead bodies of the Azerbaijani soldiers who died in the recent battle on the contact line of troops, were allegedly examined with the presence of ICRC representatives before retuning to the other side and no signs of torture were allegedly found on the bodies.

Azerbaijan’s Military Prosecutor Office and the forensic medical examination registered numerous signs of ill-treatment on the bodies of deceased Azerbaijani soldiers, including pocked eyes, injuries with blunt instruments, damaged scalps, cut ears, broken bones and ripped mouth.
