Defense Minister of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan conveyed an interesting and unpredictable idea in the public broadcasting: “The enemy side could not bring to its mind that what kind of weapons we did not use in the battle”.
This was not mistakenly told because Artsrun Hovhannisyan, the press secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Armenian Republic passed the same opinion, too.
It sounds interesting, what kind of weapons can it be that Azerbaijani side does not call to mind? Let’s come up with logical consequences. If they were talking about (not a weapon of mass destruction) ordinary weapons, of course, Armenia would not think too much on using those weapons. The Armenian side was defeated and withdrew and they did not use their weapons that ‘no one can bring to his mind’. Agreeably, it is not a logical approach. If you did not use your weapons in case of suffering from heavy casualties and withdrawing, this situation would leave a question mark over minds: what are you waiting for using your weapon?
That’s to say, firstly, that weapon “no one can bring to his mind” is not considered for using in the traditional fight. Secondly, Armenia was afraid of facing international condemnation. In other words, those weapons can be internationally banned weapons.
Can Armenia possess such kind of weapons?
A very real variant is a radiological weapon, or ”dirty bomb”
Why namely “dirty bomb”? First of all, there are quite many raw materials in Armenia – radioactive waste of Metsamor Atomic Electric Station. It is obvious that a very simple variant of “dirty bomb” is only an ordinary container for radioactive material where an explosive was inserted in it. Terrorists can make this kind of weapon at home.
Officially, none of world countries possesses radiological weapon. Hence, it does not make sense to use this weapon during traditional fights. This is a great weapon to use for revenge or terror: effects of those weapons on humans and environment remain hazardous for several tens of years.
Armenia is highly likely to possess this weapon regarding the description of dirty bomb as “the Poor Man`s Atomic Bomb”. Therefore, Armenia is both a poor country and closely linked to terror. One of the leaders of ASALA Terror Organization, Vazgen Sisyan’s coming to Karabakh in terms of the military operations proved this fact.
The poor country, which cooperates with terror organizations, is an ideal candidate for building “dirty bomb”!
Moreover, three Georgian and three Armenian citizens who tried to sell nuclear materials illegally were arrested on April 16. Inspector of special issues of Georgian State Security Service, Savle Motiashvili stated that they tried to sell uranium (U 238) for 200 million dollar. Besides, uranium dioxide works in Metsamor Atomic Electric Station (AES) on the basis of uranium fuel.
This is not the first case: two Armenian citizens were arrested in Sadakhli border point of Georgia for conveying radioactive container of ‘Seziym-137’.
It is not possible to speak here inadvertently. It is clear that secret criminal structure, which is into nuclear smuggling, operates in Armenia in state-level government agencies.
The most dangerous thing is that it is supported in both public and political levels. Armenia National Congress deputy, Qrant Baqrantyan, who was prime minister between 1993 and 1996, stated explicitly at the meeting on April 5, “We need to create atom bombs to protect Karabakh from Azerbaijan”. It is necessary to notice that the person who formerly headed of economic reforms, not marginal politician, said these words.
Similar opinion came from Norat Ter-Qriqoryants, former defense minister of Armenia in his interview to ‘Tert’ on April 17: “We need to possess a weapon of revenge and fear”.
All these facts ensure that Armenia turns to be a serious nuclear threat in the region, maybe it has already become a threat. Although the country doesn’t possess “dirty bomb”, Atom Electric Station of the country, which is situated in seismic zones and established on the basis of old technology, is a threat to Southern Caucasus. Currently, a scale of the threat is increasing many times. Thereby, Armenians don’t refrain from confessing officially their possession of “dirty bomb”.
