UN secretary-general apologizes for postponing visit to South Caucasus
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has begged President Ilham Aliyev
In his letter to the Azerbaijani head of state, Mr Ban Ki-moon said the following:

“Dear Mr. President, I would like to convey my sincere apologies to You and through You to the people of Azerbaijan for postponing my visit to Azerbaijan as well as Georgia and Armenia. Over the past 10 years, the Alliance of Civilizations has become a significant platform for promotion of mutual respect and tolerance between peoples and within those nations themselves. Thanks to your personal position and leadership, the 7th Global Forum of the Alliance will professionally determine its future course. I had been looking forward to my participation in the Global Forum with you. I hope I can connect to you via videoconference.

I hope we on a mutual basis appoint another date for my visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan to take place before my term of office expires.

Your Highness, I’m asking You to accept my apologies and deepest respect.”
