According to the ministry, around 9:35AM 23 April, the National Center for State Maritime Administration received a SOS signal about a fire accident on the Russian-flagged unladen PALFLOT-2 tanker, which was 110km from the coast and was floating from Azerbaijan’s Dubandi port towards Turkmenistan’s Alaja port.
In line the instructions, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations and Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company sent relevant forces to tackle the fire.
The ministry’s “MI-17-1V” and “KA-32” helicopters and “Vixr-5 ship”, Caspian Shipping Company’s “Caspian Voyager”, “Caspian Protector”
, “Islay” and “Jura” ships are struggling to extinguish the fire.
10 of the 11 crew members of the tanker have been rescued, while the one crew member—Kramchuk Andrey Vladimirovich—is missing.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), the State Maritime Administration and Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company JSC have issued a joint statement regarding the fire that broke out this morning on a Russian-flagged tanker in the Caspian, the MES told AzVision.az.
