Intercultural dialogue cannot be achieved without decisive steps in education: Azerbaijan
Intercultural dialogue cannot be achieved without successive and decisive steps in the sphere of education, Azerbaijan
He was addressing the panel session titled “The goals for the prevention of violent extremism through education: education for development, diversity and dialogue” within the framework of the 7th UNAOC Global Forum in Baku Apr. 27.

Jabbarov said education is very important in terms of mutual understanding, but throughout history, education has been used for manipulation.

As noted by President Ilham Aliyev, education is the best vaccine against extremism, he added.

The minister noted that much has been done by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the field of education.

"I must say that over the past 10 years, thousands of Azerbaijanis were sent to study in the best universities abroad. About 4,000 foreign students study in our country. This contributes not only to education but also to intercultural dialogue,” he added.

Jabbarov said girls’ education is an important issue, too. “100 years ago, an Azeri oil millionaire built the first women`s gymnasium. We believe that an educated young man will be a good parent and a good soldier serving his country. But above all, he will be a citizen who makes proper decisions for the future of his people,” he concluded.
