Lavash does not belong to Armenians
"Lavash is baked in Azerbaijan, Turkey and Armenia," said the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan Abulfas Garayev at a press conference Dec.2.
“Therefore, one cannot say that lavash belongs to any nation,” Garayev said.

He said that lavash belongs to the whole region.

He also said that lavash was mentioned as “Armenian bread” in the document submitted by Armenia to UNESCO.

“However, justice prevailed in this issue,” said the minister. “In accordance with the decision of UNESCO, lavash is baked throughout the region, and it is not “exclusive Armenian bread”.”

Garayev also expressed regret over some articles on this issue appeared in the local media.

He said that such materials suit the Armenians well, and this fact certainly upsets.
