No new sports facilities to be built for holding 4th Islamic Solidarity Games
No new sports facilities will be built for holding the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games, which is to be held on May 12-22 in Baku, Azad Rahimov, Azerbaijan`s youth and sports minister, said.
He made the remarks at the press conference on May 12 in Baku.

Rahimov said that the Islamic Games will be held at 16 of already existing sports facilities.

He also added that some sports facilities were not used during the First European Games in Baku, but will be used for holding the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games.

The Islamic Solidarity Games is a multinational, multi-sport event. The Games involve the elite athletes of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The first Islamic Solidarity Games was held in 2005 in Saudi Arabia.

The second event, originally scheduled to take place in October 2009 in Iran, and later re-scheduled for April 2010, was cancelled after a dispute arose between Iran and the Arab World over the logos.

The 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games was held in Palembang, Indonesia from September 22 to October 1, 2013.
