"Baku-Supsa pipeline gave impetus to Azerbaijani, Georgian economic development"
"The tariff for transportation of one ton of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline was $15.67, while it stood at $3.14 per ton ($0.43 per barrel) via the Baku-Supsa pipeline," said Aliyev. "This is while $1.2 accounted for Georgia ($017 per barrel), while the remaining part accounted for Azerbaijan."
The Baku-Supsa pipeline is advantageous not only because Azerbaijan`s Azeri Light oil started to be delivered to the world market at lower costs for transportation, but it also strengthened the strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia in the energy sphere, added the minister.
Aliyev noted that the Baku-Supsa pipeline has transported 76.3 million tons of oil since being commissioned.
The length of the Baku-Supsa pipeline is 827 kilometers and its diameter is 530 millimeters. The pipeline`s pumping capacity is more than six million tons per year. The pipeline transports Azerbaijan`s Azeri Light oil produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of oil and gas fields. The operator of the Baku-Supsa pipeline is the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC).
