The Amnesty Act will also cover women; those imprisoned for having crimes under the age of 18; men aged 60 prior to the date of entry into force of this decision; those considered disabled (first, second of third groups) prior to the date of entry into force of this decision; men having infants or having children of first and second disability groups, including those whose right to adoption, guardianship and trusteeship was determined by law prior to the date of entry into force of this decision; those who participated in the fighting against fascism during the Second World War; those who served in the Armed Forces of the former Soviet Union and rear positions, as well as whose equated to them under the legislation; close relatives of those who died and went missing in the fighting during the Second World War; those who participated in the fighting for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan: those who fulfilled an international duty in the Armed Forces of the former Soviet Union, those awarded orders and medals of Azerbaijan and the former Soviet Union (except those deprived of awards or medals); those subjected to repression during the former Soviet Union, subsequently acquitted by the decision of the relevant authorities and their close relatives; those deported from the Armenian SSR as a result of policies of ethnic cleansing, terrorism and genocide in 1948-1953 and 1988; those forcibly exiled from their native lands as a result of the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenian armed forces in 1988-1993; those who participated in the elimination of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and their guardians (in case of guardianship in accordance with law); those who became disabled during the tragic events of 20 January 1990 and close relatives of January 20 martyrs; those who became disabled during the genocide committed in the Azerbaijani town of Khojaly on 26 February 1992 and close relatives of Khojaly martyrs.
In addition, persons, whose unserved part of the sentence doest not exceed 6 months until this decision comes into force, will be exempted from serving the appointed time. Persons, whose unserved part of the sentence exceeds 6 months until this decision comes into force, the remaining part of his sentence will be reduced to 6 months.
According to the bill, the Amnesty Act will come into force on June 15.
