Prime Minister Enrico Letta is scheduled to deliver his first address at 3 pm (1300 GMT). Although Letta`s centre-left Democratic Party (PD) has a majority in the lower house, he will rely on new coalition allies to back him in the Senate.
Letta has already won a vote of confidence from financial markets, as Italian government bonds rallied after the formation of a government brought to an end months of political uncertainty in the eurozone`s third-biggest economy.
The yield on benchmark 10-year Italian bonds declined 10 basis points to 3.95 per cent - its lowest level since October 2010.
The PD and the centre-right People of Freedom party of former premier Silvio Berlusconi have formed a coalition with the support of the centrist party of ex-prime minister Mario Monti following inconclusive elections in February. German Chancellor Angela Merkel phoned Letta to invite him to Berlin for talks, her spokesman said.
Steffen Seibert said Merkel wished Letta and his government much success and emphasized that Merkel`s centre-right coalition was keen to work together with the new Italian government.
Letta has said he hopes the new coalition will be able to lead Italy out of its current economic and political crisis. It is the first coalition of the left and right in Italy since 1947.
