Necdet Unuvar: `Bundestag ignores Khojaly Genocide committed by Armenians` - EXCLUSIVE
The German Bundestag`s decision on recognition of the so-called `Armenian genocide` negatively affected relations between Turkey and Germany, Necdet Unuvar, the head of the Turkey-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group of Turkey`s Grand National Assembly told AzVision.az.

`Bundestag`s decision is illegitimate and Turkey does not recognize it. For Turkey the resolution is invalid. The crimes committed by Germany against ethnic, religious minorities and Jews during the II World War were genocide. There are enough witnesses and documents proving the fact. The whole world witnessed the Khojaly genocide, however German Bundestag ignored the tragedy of Azerbaijanis`, he said.

The political purposes stand behind the Bundestag`s decision. Hopefully, Germany will withdraw its decision. The decision not only deteriorated relations between two countries, but also caused concern among compatriots living in Germany, he added.

Historians should investigate the 1915 events. Such a decision should be adopted by historians, but not by politicians and parliamentarians. As Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated, we are ready to shed light on the history. We are also encouraged in clarifying the issue, Necdet Unuvar concluded.
