Traffic to be restricted in central streets of Baku tonight
In order to ensure the safe conduct of 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe to be held in Baku for the first time, traffic on some central streets and avenues of the capital will be restricted from June 13 at 24:00 local time.
According to the head of PR department of the Baku City Main Police Office, Vagif Asadov, the restrictions are imposed in intersections, road crossings, road junctions from Azadlig square to A. Pushkin, Khagani, Bulbul, Aziz Aliyev streets, Gosha Gala Gapisi, Istiglaliyyet, Niyazi streets, Azneft circle and Neftchilar avenue.

Instead of driving from 14th km of Alat-Astara-Salyan highway in the direction of the 20th area, Bayil settlement, Flag Square, as well as driving from Javanshir bridge southward, drivers are recommended to use the Afiyeddin Jalilov – Yusif Safarov, Yusif Safarov – 28 May street junctions, 10th plant circle, as well as intersection of Nobel avenue and Najafgulu Rafiyev street, Samad Vurgun, Bulbul and Fuzuli streets.

Drivers are recommended to prefer public transportation that will be operating in the aforementioned directions on an intensified basis. Baku City Circuit is taking all necessary measures to prevent traffic jam in all the streets, avenues, squares, and circles along the track and to ensure comfort and continuous security of participants. Drivers are asked not to park their cars in parts of the Pushkin, Khagani, Zarifa Aliyeva, Aziz Aliyev, and Istiglaliyyat streets and the Bulbul and Neftchilar avenues that overlap with the track. Otherwise traffic police will do necessary action to safely transport the cars away from the area.

In order to hold the competition at the highest level of security, Baku City Main Police Office’s State Traffic Police invites every driver to join the campaign “7 days without car”.
