Not diamonds or gold: Bride asked for 10,000 trees to be planted as her wedding gift
A bride-to-be in rural India has made an unusual request to her future husband: Instead of the traditional gold jewellery or money, she asked for 10,000 saplings to be planted.
Priyanka Bhadoriya, the woman in question, is a 22-year-old a science graduate and resident of Kisipura village in Bhind district of India. Her groom, Ravi Chauhan, accepted her wishes, saying, "I am happy knowing that she is more concerned about the environment than her own wealth."

The bride`s actions have been the subject of media attention, with many wanting to know why the unusual request was made:

"I have been planting saplings from the age of 10. When my marriage was fixed on Earth Day, I was very happy environment reminded me of my emotional bonding with it," Bhadoriya told The Hindustan Times.

5,000 sapling are in the process of being planted at her paternal house, and the rest will grow at her in-laws` place. What a great way to show the growing bond between the families!
