TAP awards fibre optic cable contract
Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG (TAP) selected India`s Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd. (HFCL) for the supply and delivery of approximately 1,550 kilometres fibre optic cable, TAP reported on June 21.
This will facilitate bi-directional communication feed from the pipeline and associated assets, such as compressor and block valve stations, to the supervisory control center, the report said.

HFCL is one of the largest manufacturers of optical fibre cables with a strong customer base in more than 30 countries.

TAP project envisages transportation of gas from the Stage 2 of development of Azerbaijan`s Shah Deniz gas and condensate field to the EU countries.

The 870-kilometer pipeline will be connected to the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) on the Turkish-Greek border, run through Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea, before coming ashore in Italy`s south.

TAP`s shareholding is comprised of BP (20 percent), SOCAR (20 percent), Snam S.p.A. (20 percent), Fluxys (19 percent), Enagás (16 percent) and Axpo (5 percent).

A ceremony marking the beginning of construction for the project was held on Tuesday, 17 May in Thessaloniki.
