Work underway to issue Azerbaijan mandate to start talks on strategic partnership agreement
Work is underway to issue Azerbaijan a mandate to start negotiations on a new agreement on a strategic partnership, Ambassador Malena Mard, Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, told reporters in Baku June 23.
She noted that a number of visits were paid to Azerbaijan in this regard.

“As you now, this mandate must be issued by EU member states. The process continues,” the ambassador said.

Mard refused to comment on the statement made by Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev that the mandate may be issued in October 2016.
