"We have recognized the progress Georgia has achieved on its path to membership,” Stoltenberg said.
He added Allies were faithful to the promise they made at the 2008 Bucharest Summit, where they said that Georgia would become a member of NATO.
The Secretary General stressed NATO had a "firm position” towards Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
"That’s the reason why we implemented different elements in our Substantial Package,” Stoltenberg said.
"We will continue our strong political and practical support for Georgia.”
"I will visit Georgia together with the North Atlantic Council this autumn and this will demonstrate NATO’s strong support for Georgia, its territorial integrity and its reforms that the country carries out to become a member.”
Meanwhile Stoltenberg announced next NATO summit would be held in Brussels, Belgium in 2017.
