Global threats growing, economic crisis deepening
“Successful development is well ensured in Azerbaijan. The year 2016 will go down in history as the year of deep reforms”
"Global threat are growing, the economic crisis is deepening. All countries are suffering from this crisis in various ways," Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on Sunday at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socio-economic development in the first half of 2016 and objectives for the future.

The head of state said successful development is well ensured in Azerbaijan, adding that the public-political situation is stable and the challenges faced by the country are being overcome.

“In the six months of this year, Azerbaijan’s foreign policy has been active. More than ten heads of state and government have visited Azerbaijan. My visits to foreign countries also have contributed to strengthening Azerbaijan’s international relations,” he stressed.

President Ilham Aliyev said that despite the decrease in the GDP in the first half of the year, there has been some growth in the country’s industry and agriculture as well as in the non-oil sector.

“In the six years of this year, 6.3 billion dollars has been invested in the country’s economy and Azerbaijan continues to attract the attention of foreign investors. Over the past six months, 78,000 permanent jobs have been created and significant work done for social events to be organized,” said the head of state.

According to the president, the year 2016 will go down in history as the year of deep reforms. “Efforts are continuing to ensure successful implementation of strategic transportation and energy projects,” he stressed.
