The Caspian Five (Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran, Turkmenistan) agreed in Astana July 13 to continue the work on full coordination of the provisions of the draft convention on the Caspian Sea’s legal status and achieve its early adoption, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told.
The provisions of the draft convention on military issues, compliance with the agreed confidence-building measures, provision of a balanced armament, navigation issues, modes and actions in the Caspian Sea, the right to free transit, and the laying of submarine pipelines and cables were thoroughly discussed during the Astana meeting of the foreign ministers of the Caspian states, said the Foreign Ministry.
