Azerbaijani CEC creates working group for referendum on constitutional reforms
Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) passed a decision on July 28 on the creation a working in connection with the referendum on making amendments to the country’s Constitutions.
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on July 26 on holding a referendum on amendments to the country’s Constitution on September 26, 2016.

The signature sheets and documents attached thereto shall be submitted to the relevant election commission for agitation groups to be registered.

In order to verify the accuracy of information in signature sheets and the documents attached thereto, in accordance with Article 59.2 of the Electoral Code, the CEC has to establish a working group consisting of experts from the Justice Ministry’s Forensic Center, the Finance Ministry and the Interior Ministry, and appoint one of the commission members, who has the decisive voting right, as head of the working group.

CEC member Azer Taghiyev was appointed head of the working group.
