Iran-Turkey freight trains resume commuting
Freight trains have resumed commuting between Iran and Turkey after almost one week of suspension due to a bomb blast.
A bomb took place 23 July on board a Turkish freight train that was en route from eastern Turkey to Iran. The incident occurred in Turkey within 30 kilometers of the Iranian border.

According to Iranian media reports the train was carrying iron, tobacco, and MDF (Medium-density fibreboard) to Iran.

The Turkish officials have blamed militants with the outlawed Kurdishtan Workers’ Party (PKK) for the attack.

Majid Aghababaei, Iranian deputy interior minister for border affairs, has said that trains had to stop commuting between Iran and Turkey as the railway was damaged due to the bomb blast, Fars news agency reported.

However, the railway has already been repaired and freight trains are now working, he added.
