Agreement ratification confirms European perspective of Georgia

"On behalf of all Georgians, I would like to thank the MEPs for their confidence in our country,” he said. “We have recently spared no effort to carry out democratic reforms, which stipulated our success. We will be provided with an appropriate action plan thanks to the association agreement to ensure to continue this process and to reach the goal - the final accession to the EU."

He said that today Georgia is an example of the successful partnership with Europe.

"We are determined to fully and rapidly implement this agreement for the European standards to be fully introduced in the country,” he said. “Georgia is a country of stable democracy, active economy. It has the appropriate skills. It is also a faithful contributor in international security."

The European Parliament ratified the association agreement with Georgia in Strasbourg on December 18.

Around 11 EU member-states, namely, Denmark, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovakia, Malta, Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Sweden and Croatia ratified the association agreement between Georgia and the EU.
