During the negotiations in Turkey Dec. 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that under current conditions, as well as due to the EU’s unconstructive position, Russia couldn’t continue the implementation of the South Stream project.
He said that Bulgaria has not yet permitted to include this project in its exclusive economic zone. Later, Gazprom head Alexey Miller said that the South Stream project is closed.
The minister recalled that he is a co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Russian-Turkish Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation.
“The gas pipeline construction project through the Black Sea from Russia to Turkey is the main task,” he said. “The specialists of the energy ministry and Gazprom, together with Turkish colleagues, are currently working.”
"We are actively working on a feasibility study of the project,” Novak said. “We believe that the new route is the promising direction through which energy will be supplied, in particular, gas to Europe."
