Turkish peacekeepers to remain in Afghanistan - PM
Turkish peacekeepers will remain in Afghanistan, Turkish Anadolu agency quoted Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu Dec. 24 as saying.

“Turkey will not withdraw its peacekeeping contingent from the country, even if other countries withdraw theirs, as Ankara has new commitments in Afghanistan,” he said.

Davutoglu did not specify these new commitments.

“Turkey and Afghanistan have historical ties,” he said.

Around 457 Turkish servicemen serve as part of the NATO-ISAF mission (International Security Assistance Force).
