The command-staff exercises, named “Caucasus 2016,” will last till Sept.10.
The exercises, involving the Ground Forces, the Aerospace Forces, the Navy, and Airborne Forces, will be held in training fields situated in the Southern Military District as well as in the waters of the Black Sea and the Caspian.
12,500 servicemen, aircraft, military equipment and warships will be involved in the exercises.

The Russian Armed Forces on Monday began large-scale exercises in the territory of the Southern Military District, AzVision.az reports citing the Russian Defense Ministry’s press service.
