The meetings held on Wednesday and Thursday raised the number of flights which companies of both countries are making between Tbilisi and Moscow, local media said.
Regular direct air traffic between Georgia and Russia was halted in August 2008. Since 2009 Georgian company Georgian Airways has begun Tbilisi-Moscow charter flights with Russia’s consent, since 2011 Russian Airline Sibir S7 has joined this process. In September this was announced about transition to regular flights instead of charter flights. Since late October Russian flag carrier Aeroflot also resumed flights in Georgia.
On December 10 and 11 Georgian Airways personnel refused to make daily flights to Moscow and back, declaring a two-day warning action with demands to observe the parity between Russian and Georgian air companies. On December 12, Georgian Airways resumed flights on Tbilisi-Moscow-Tbilisi route.
