Azerbaijan celebrates Knowledge Day
September 15 – the start of the new academic year in Azerbaijan is marked as Knowledge Day.


A total of 164,033 children republic wide will enter first grade this year and a total of 1,415,242 pupils will receive education in 4,472 general education schools.

A total of 43,397 children will become first graders in Baku.

29 new schools will be put into use in the new academic year. 17 schools have been overhauled and 384 more are being repaired. 10 educational schools are under construction.

Two boarding schools will also be commissioned after capital repairs at the order of the construction and equipment office of the Ministry of Education.

6,623,135 copies of 261 different textbooks and methodical manuals for teachers have been published. The newly published textbooks were delivered to education management bodies in mid August and distributed to schools.

On the order of Education Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, the first lesson on Knowledge Day will be dedicated to the theme of patriotism.

Baku police will tighten security measures over the start of the new academic year.
