September 15 is int`l Democracy day

International Democracy Day is being observed on Thursday (September 15) to raise public awareness about the democratic system.

This year`s theme is "Democracy and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development".

Government agencies and non-governmental organizations are holding various activities and events around the world to promote democracy.

The UN General Assembly had decided to in November 2007, to observe International Democracy Day every year on September 15.
