Asadov said that the referendum is held in accordance with the ongoing process in the society.
“In other words, transformation of changes happening in public-political life into political sphere has become a necessity of the day,” said the speaker. “The amendments are intended to create an institute of vice presidency for creation of swift management mechanism. We think that the constitutional amendments will serve the interests of the Azerbaijani people and create a solid foundation for even better protection of human rights and freedoms.”
Senator Reichardt, in turn, said that he is interested in development of relations between France and Azerbaijan in various spheres.
He noted that observations leave no doubt that the referendum is going on democratically and in keeping with European standards.
“We’re well aware of Azerbaijan’s problems, just as we’re aware of its achievements. In these terms, we give huge importance to the problem of refugees and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” said the senator. “We believe that the amendments will help democracy deeply establish itself in Azerbaijan and improve the welfare of the people.”
